The annual fruit and flower show which began at Raja’s Seat in Madikeri, yesterday has proved a crowd-puller as thousands of tourists are thronging the venue.
The special feature of the flower show is the depiction of the lifestyle and traditions of Kodavas through floral depiction of ‘Kodava Ainmane’ or ancestral homes (in picture) that has been recreated using lakhs of flowers.
A heart made out of roses, floral coffee pot and the cup, Mickey Mouse, Swami Vivekananda are other attractions. Raja’s Seat, which had lost its sheen owing to lack of flower-bearing plants since a few months, is now wearing a refreshing look, drawing people like a magnet. The show is being organised by the Department of Horticulture at a cost of Rs. 20 lakh. Cultural programmes are being organised by the Department of Kannada and Culture and Karnataka Kodava Sahitya Academy in the evenings. The show will be on till Monday, Feb. 10.
