Four persons hailing from Kodagu district were arrested by the Hullahalli Police Station on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
The accused have been identified Ponnappa, Nanaiah, Satisha and Chandrappa, all residents of Madikeri. Police alleged that all the four accused had visited Hariyur village, Nanjangud taluk, to hunt wild boar and a bullet fired from a single barrel gun by one of the accused accidentally struck Ramesh (30), a resident of Hosakalagatti village, killing him on the spot.
Following the incident, Hullahalli Police arrested all the four accused.
It is said that a total of 14 people from Somwarpet taluk in Kodagu district, were on a hunting spree for the past three days.
Police have recovered single barrel guns, bullets, the vehicle and mobile phones from the accused, but were able to arrest only four persons, while the rest managed to escape.
The accused have been booked under IPC Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).
