Kutta : A group of wild life enthusiasts under the leader ship of Theethira Naveen were denied permission by the forest department to clear parthinium on World Environment day, not to be out done the enthusiasts under the guidance of Palecanda Aiyanna the Hon. Secretary of Nirmala Kodagu decided to conduct a Nature camp for students at Nagrhole.
The DFO of Hunsur range Vijay Ranjan Singh gave the nature lovers permission to conduct a camp and clear the parthinium.
The camp was attended by few students from schools bordering the National Park and 30 volunteers from Bangalore and Mysore.
The volunteers were provided refreshments by Rakesh the owner of Bethel Home stay of Biruga. A brief talk on the importance of forest and animals was given by A T Pooviah the rfo of the National Park. T shirts and gloves were distributed to the volunteers by Aiyanna and the volunteers uprooted the parthenium on the main road leading to the N.P. The good work of the volunteers was appreciated by Krishnaswami the owner of The Machaan resort by providing them with a hearty lunch.
A quiz competion was also conducted for the volunteers. ZP member Ranjan Chengappa and panchyat member Pushkar distributed prizes.
The eventful day came to an end with Tea and snacks which was provided by Orange County resorts Kabini.
