ZP meeting adjourned. Congress and BJP trade charges

Admist uproarious scenes,  allegations and  counter allegations  the Zilla Panchyat bimonthly review meet  was abruptly adjourned  by ZP President V.M. Vijaya.

Angered
Congress Members were irked at the ruling BJP for not allowing discussion on remarks passed by Karnataka Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah at Sarita Poonacha during a previous meeting.

V.P. Shashidhar and C. Karun Kalaiah  stormed  into the well of the house angered by the attitude of the President, in not allowing them permission  to bring up issues slated for  discussion.   Trouble broke out over the Nittor Gram Panchyat issue where the Assembly Speaker had allegedly made  disparaging remarks against Virajpet T.P. President Saritha Poonacha, the congress members were demanding a discussion  on the above issues which was  refused outright the  chair  claiming that it was a closed chapter. The opposition members stormed out of the  meeting hall after tearing up the agenda and a lot of sloganeering.

The meeting was reconvened after a short while  and issues like the proposed drinking water project  for Madikeri and others issues were taken up.

The BJP members Dharmaja Uthappa, Manu Muthappa and S.N. Raja Rao urged the President  to ensure that Congress member V.P. Shashidhar does not interfere in the smooth conduct of the Zilla Panchyat meetings in future.
