Three persons, were killed and nine sustained grievous injuries when a brand new ‘Tata Magic’ fell into a 50-foot gorge near Hakathur on Monday night.
Kaverappa, the driver had taken delivery of the new mini people carrier ‘Tata Magic’ and was heading home when tragedy struck.
Apart from Kaveriappa and his wife, seven passengers, who were waiting for the last bus towards Virajpet, whom Kaverappa allegedly offered a ride, were the unlucky once, who either were injured or lost their lives. The driver of the ill fated vehicle supposedly lost control of the vehicle due to rash and negligent driving.
Cheppudira Mohan Kaverappa (52) and Mani (45) died on the spot while Vasanthi (31) breathed her last on the way to hospital. Seven of the injured have been shifted to Hospital’s in Mangalore.
