The Congress conducted a protest against the Kodagu Zilla Panchyat and the local Zilla Panchyat member A. Manu Muthappa, for ignoring the residents of Napoklu.
President of Napoklu Chamber of Commerce B.S. Thammaiah regretted that though a huge amount of money was spent on the Community Health Centre in Napoklu, there were no permanent Doctors or Nursing staff posted to the hospital.
The protesters demanded that medical staff be appointed immediately, and served an ultimatum of fifteen days to the authorities failing which the protesters threatened to intesify their agitation. The residents of Napoklu are of the opinion that the health centre at Napoklu which is more than a century old never faced a shortage of Doctors, but they allege that since the present Zilla Panchyat members took office the health centre has been neglected and the locals have to travel to Madikeri for treatment of their ailments.
