A road cleaning drive marked the NCC Day celebrations at Sainik School in Kudige near here recently.
More than a hundred ninth standard students of the school undertook a cleaning drive of the roads near Ganapathy Temple, Forest Office, KSRTC Bus Stand and Ayyappa Swamy Temple at Kushalnagar town and cleared the roadsides of all plastic wastes.
Speaking on the occasion, NCC Officer Manjesh said that the cleaning programme was taken up in order to celebrate the NCC Day in a meaningful manner. The cleaning drive was also aimed at creating public awareness on the importance of keeping our roads clean and maintaining hygiene in the town, he added.
NCC Officers Lt. Vipin Kumar, Lt. Govindaraju, Havaldar Rakesh, Officers Y.V. Ramana, G.K. Manjappa, Raghavendra Raje Urs, Subedar A.K.Das, Mushtaq Ali Khan and others were present.
National Cadets Corps (NCC) Day is celebrated every year on the fourth Sunday in the month of November. The NCC in India was formed by the National Cadet Corps Act of 1948 on 15th July 1948.
The first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru presided over the function of raising the first NCC Unit at Delhi on the last Sunday of Nov. 1948.
