Some girls from Coorg seem to be hitting bad luck every time they befriend someone on Facebook. Last year the desire to have “maximum” friends on Facebook got a girl from Madikeri into trouble with a Mechanic.
This time another case has come up of a girl from Coorg who became friends with a man from Bangalore and ended up getting extorted by him.
Last time., it was a mechanic who took the girl from Coorg for a ride. This time the gentleman in question, goes by the alias “Gunda”.
According to the report in The New Indian Express, Mr.Gunda posed as an “influential person” on Facebook and the lady fell for his charms and they became friends. The “influential” Gunda seems to have ran out of cash and then started blackmailing the girl telling her that “the reputation of her family will be tarnished if her name appeared in the media as witness in an accident case.”
According to the police;
” He got a total of Rs 95,000 from the girl. He took Rs 28,000 from her in a coffee shop in Sadashiva Nagar in Bangalore on August 23, Rs 11,000 at Madivala on August 25, Rs 30,000 at Reliance Mart in Mysore on August 28, Rs 20,000 on August 29 at Joy Alukkas shop in Mysore .”
Mr.Gunda even landed up at toll gate in Madikeri , to collect another instalment of 6,000 on Sept 2.
After the toll gate rendezvous, he came back for another 45k and the girl had enough of his charms. She informed her parents about it, who then informed the police. The police laid a trap and now Mr.Gunda is in the lock-up.
Same old story, different characters.
