Govt has still not approved a Rs. 12.96-crore action plan for 2009-10, submitted by the Kodagu Zilla Panchayat. Funds are required to take up drinking water projects in rural areas of Coorg.

While the state govt is planning to link rivers in Coorg and flow it directly to Bangalore city, the citizens of Coorg are still waiting for the state govt to approve the zilla panchayat plan and release the funds for the project to take off.

The proposal was submitted to Chief Minister Yedyyurappa on January 28. The project aims  to take up 1,292 drinking water projects in Kodagu. The proposal is yet be to cleared by the Govt.

The Kodagu Zilla Panchayat President V.M.Vijaya was quoted in  The hindu stating;

A delegation headed by me had requested Mr. Yeddyurappa in Bangalore on February 20 to direct those concerned to approve the action plan. Principal Secretary in the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj had asked the Engineering chief of the department to carefully peruse the action plan and submit a report. But, no one knows what happened to that report.
