As per the Codava calendar, Codava National Council (CNC) celebrates Codava new year Edmyar 1 on 14th April 2014 . But as 14 April falls on Monday, ploughing of paddy fields is not done on that day according to Codava tradition. Hence the ploughing of paddy field by CNC was advanced to 13th April Sunday.
The program was inaugurated by traditionally ploughing of the field by president of CNC, N U Nachappa Codava at the paddy fields of Nandinervanda A Uthappa of Chikabetageri village on 13th April 2014 at 7:30 AM. Nandineravanda Uthappa, Nandineravanda Kunjammi, Pullera Kalappa, Pullera Swathi Kalappa, Nandinearvanda Viju, Nandineravanda Nisha, Nandineravanda Bopanna, Nandineravanda Kripa, Manavattira Somaiah, Manavattira Harish and Manavattira Ganesh were present in the program.
A torch light procession from RMC yard to Parimala Mangala Vihar in Gonicoppal was conducted in the evening to bring the curtains down on the New year celebrations.
