CM Yeddyurappa said ‘Bane’ is ‘Encroached Land”

Sunday, April 10th, 2011

According the report in The Hindu, CM Yeddyurappa, during his recent visit to Kodagu, seems to have opined that Bane land is encroached land.  In short, if he ever meant that, he means that “Bane land is Goverment Property”. The news report further reads that

Some persons inimical to the interests of Kodagu had fed Mr. Yeddyurappa with wrong information on Bane lands.

If that is so, then… there are politicians or bureaucrats in the Karnataka Goverment who want to deprive the Kodava people and other indigenous communities in Kodagu over their rights to the bane lands.

The news report also speaks about the ever dragging issue of General K.S. Thimayya Memorial at Sunnyside(his home), at Madikeri. Deccan Herald reports that Transport Minister R.Ashok has assured that order to shift RTO office will be passed immediately.  He also assured that the Karnataka Government is serious about solving the Jamma Bane issue and lamented that the issue got stuck because of Home Minister Dr V S Acharya and Minister for Primary & Secondary Education, Kageri Vishweshwar Hegde barging in with their demands at the precise moment – when CM Yeddyurappa was going to make an announcement to resolve the issue in Kodagu.

CLN Editor’s bottom line

Saturday, November 20th, 2010

The visit, of the CM, to Kodagu has raised the hopes of the residents. The Chief Minister, has promised to release the amount earmarked for the ‘General Thimmaiah Memorial’,  and I do hope, this will result in “Sunny Side” being converted into a Memorial worthy of the great man himself. The CM’s utterances on various developmental projects, I am sure, isn’t plain rhetoric, since we expect him to deliver on his promises.

CLN’s continued coverage of unmasking the mis-information being spread by vested interest’s on ‘World Heritage Site’ controversy, is our honest endeavour to continue to publish facts and present to our readers, the true picture.

Honouring,  Major M. C. Muthanna by naming the ‘Army Public School’ and a road  in Jammu and  Kashmir in his memory,  should make every Coorg    very proud, that their  very own brave  heart, has not been forgotten, by a grateful Nation.  The people of Kodagu, are eagerly waiting for his statue to be unveiled,  at the earliest at Madikeri.

It is heartening to note, that schools  in Kodagu  are focusing also on extra curricular activities. B.V.B.K.V, Madikeri has done the District proud by regaining lost glory, of Coorg Hockey in the junior section. I do hope, educational institution’s, will emulate the achievements, of institution’s like K.A.L.S, C.O.P.S.  and   B.V.B.K.V.

PWD seeks more funds for new RTO Building

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

The Public Works Department has asked for an additional Rs. 74 lakh from the Government to complete the construction of the new RTO building coming up on Abbi Falls Road.

Currently the RTO office is located at ‘Sunnyside’, the residence of General K.S.Thimayya. People are hopeful once the RTO office is shifted to the new building at A B Road, Sunnyside can be converted into Gen K S Thimayya Memorial.

The Govt has already sanctioned Rs 2 Crore for the memorial.
