Mangalore University to offer courses in Kodava

According to a report in TOI, Mangalore University  will be offering  certificate, diploma and postgraduate diploma courses in Kodava language from the next academic year.The university is waiting for the Governor’s approval for the same. The aim is to promote and popularize the rich culture and tradition of Kodavas. University Deputy Registrar Prabhakar Neermarga told TOI that the duration of both the diploma and PG diploma courses is one year  and that  all diploma and PG diploma aspirants had to compulsorily pursue the certificate course, which covers the basics of Kodava language.

The Karnataka Kodava Sahitya Academy is also contemplating a request the Governor, to allow offering Kodava as a third language from class VI to class X in schools.
