Citing Government inaction and bureaucratic red tapism Convener of the ‘General K.S.Thimmaiah Memorial Project’, Major (Rtd.) Nanjappa has sent  in his resignation to the Deputy commissioner (DC) Kodagu.

Major Nanjappa alleged that the Government is yet to release the allotted funds of Rs one crore  and that  the people’s representatives of Kodagu  have turned a deaf ear to his pleas, to release the allotted funds.

A project to convert,  ‘Sunny Side’ the house belonging to late General  K.S.Thimmaiah, presently housing the Regional Transport Office (RTO), was conceived during the term of  H.D Kumaraswamy as Chief Minister (C.M)  and B.S Yeddyurappa as Deputy Chief Minister. A sum of Rs. one crores was sanctioned for the project, and the RTO was asked to relocate to a new premises on  Abby Falls road. The RTO  will shift once the works on the new building is completed but nothing has been heard of the amount that was sanctioned way back in 2006. Major Nanjappa had grand plans to convert ‘Sunny Side’ into a world class museum but the  lethargic attitude, of the District administration and the peoples representatives, has forced  him to resign from the post of  convenor of this much delayed project.
