A press release issued by district BJP President M.M. Ravindra stated that N.M. Kalappa and Kodi K. Ponnappa have been appointed General Secretaries of the district unit of the party. The party leadership has also appointed eight Vice-Presidents, eight Secretaries and 72 members to various units in the district, the release added. For Madikeri town unit, B.K. Arun Kumar has been appointed President and J. Mahesh and Manjunath General Secretaries, the release added. Coorg waits for Govt go ahead for Water ProjectsFriday, June 11th, 2010Govt has still not approved a Rs. 12.96-crore action plan for 2009-10, submitted by the Kodagu Zilla Panchayat. Funds are required to take up drinking water projects in rural areas of Coorg. While the state govt is planning to link rivers in Coorg and flow it directly to Bangalore city, the citizens of Coorg are still waiting for the state govt to approve the zilla panchayat plan and release the funds for the project to take off. The proposal was submitted to Chief Minister Yedyyurappa on January 28. The project aims to take up 1,292 drinking water projects in Kodagu. The proposal is yet be to cleared by the Govt. The Kodagu Zilla Panchayat President V.M.Vijaya was quoted in The hindu stating;

Nanaiah accuses Bopaiah of breaching ProtocolMonday, June 7th, 2010JDS MLA M C Nanaiah has accused the speaker of state assembly K G Bopaiah of breaching the state protocol and embarassing the elected representatives of the district by not inviting them to the inauguration ceremony of Makkuta-Virajpet road. The Rs 28 crore Makutta-Kerala road was inaugurated by K G Bopaiah on Saturday. Congress legislatures, M P Vishwanath and MLC T John were also not invited for the function, including MLC M C Nanaiah. Congress members had raised objection during the function and had complained that the government function is being held as BJP function. Nanaiah further added that Bopaiah is well versed with the state protocol, but has been regularly ignoring to pass on invitations to elected representatives of other parties and making the state function look like a single political party function. DICM Renukacharya not in sightMonday, June 7th, 2010It seems a case of Out of Sight, Out of mind for the disctrict in charge minister Renukacharya. It has been 5 months since thestate excise minister Renukacharya took charge as the District In Charge minsiter of Coorg. He has yet to show his face in Coorg. Till now the minister has not visited Coorg even once to take the stock of matters affecting the district. There is no official comment about his absence.
